Bobaflex, West Virginia’s sensational alternative metal artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Newport Music Hall!
Bobaflex was formed in Huntington (West Virginia) in 1988 by lead guitarist Shawn "Beaver" McCoy and bass guitarist Marvin McCoy. They recruited drummer Ronnie Castro and co-lead singers Lutz and Drebbit to complete the line up and released their eponymous debut album in 1999. The band’s been through many line up changes since then and it currently consists of Shaun (guitar and vocals), Martin (guitar and vocals), Dave Tipple (guitar and vocals), Tommy Johnson (drums), and Jymmy Tolland (bass and vocals). Their musical style is best described as a blend of hard rock, heavy metal (a subgenre of rock that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and features a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness), alternative metal (a genre that infuses heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres not normally associated with metal), and rap metal (a subgenre of rap rock and alternative metal that combines hip hop with heavy metal, usually consisting of heavy metal guitar riffs, funk metal elements, rapped vocals, and sometimes turntables). They’ve had a stellar career with 7 studio albums, 1 extended play, 5 singles, and 1 live album.
Don't miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to alternative metal, rap metal, heavy metal, and hard rock music!
