Corey Smith, Georgia’s sensational country artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Newport Music Hall!

Corey Smith was born in Jefferson (Georgia) in 1979 and is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He grew up listening to country music and went on to develop a songwriting style that moved away from its tropes of trucks and backroad bonfire parties and towards a less idealized but more natural view of what it was to be country in the 21st century. He said in a press release, “Popularity has never been as important to me as authenticity. Although that has been a costly mindset in terms of short-term commercial success, it has been a tremendous benefit in terms of long-term creative freedom.” His musical style can be best described as a blend of Americana (contemporary music that incorporates elements of various American roots music styles, including country, roots rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B and blues, resulting in a distinctive roots oriented sound), folk rock (a style that arose in the United States and the United Kingdom around the mid 1960s, pioneered by the Los Angeles band the Byrds, who began playing traditional folk music and songs by Bob Dylan with rock instrumentation, in a style heavily influenced by the Beatles and other British bands), and country music. He’s had a stellar career with 9 studio albums, 3 singles, and 6 music videos.
